Frequently Asked Questions

Wolverine Glass

Q: What is Wolverine Glass?
A: Wolverine Glass is Toughened B270 Optical Glass, outstanding clarity, and extra peace of mind.

Q: Is Wolverine Glass unbreakable?
A: No, it is still glass, but it is a lot tougher than standard optical filter glass, we do not offer any guarantees on the wolverine glass products toughness.

Q: What are your nano coatings?
A: Kase uses special coatings that offer amazing results, the filters are virtually colour neutral, scratch resistant, dirt and water repellent, and anti-glare.

Q: How do I clean my Kase Wolverine Filters?
A: We suggest using a water based solution, similar to standard glasses cleaner which is widely available in most Opticians and Chemists. It is adviced not to use alcholic solution or bleach wipes to clean your filters/glass as this can damage the coating.

Kase Armour System

Q: What is the Kase Armour System?
A: The Kase Armour System is our next generation filter system, combining the benefits of Magnetic Circular filters with versatility of 100mm holder and filters.

Q: Can I use Kase Magnetic Circular filters with the Kase Armour Holder?
A: No, The Kase Magnetic Circular filters are not compatible with the Kase Armour System and both are independent systems.

Q: Can I use the 95mm Kase Magnetic Circular filters with the Kase Armour 95mm Magnetic Circular ND filters?
A: No, Kase Armour 95mm Magnetic Circular NDs are not compatible with Kase Magnetic Circular filters, or Kase Lens Hoods.

Q: Can I use the Kase Armour Magnetic Frames on a different holder?
A: No, Kase Armour Magnetic Frames can only be used with the Kase Armour Holder.

Q: Can I use the Kase Armour Magnetic Frames with other filter manufacturers?
A: Yes, Kase Armour Magnetic Frames can hold other manufacturer filters of 2.0mm thick.

Q: What way should I stack the Kase Armour CPL and Magnetic Circular ND filters?
A: You mount the magnetic polariser at the rear of the holder, so you can use the geared adapter and rotate the polariser when the holder is mounted. Once the Armour holder is mounted, you can stack the magnetic circular ND inside.

Magnetic Circular Filters

Q: Can I use the Revolution Filters and Lens Caps on my existing Kase Magnetic Circular adaptors?
A: Yes the Revolution Filters and Lens Cap will work with any pre-existing magnetic circular range adaptors you have from Kase.

Q: Can I use the Revolution Filters stacked on my Wolverine Magnetic Filters?
A: Yes you can, but not the other way around.

Q: Can I use my existing Magnetic Circular Lens Caps with the Revolution Lens Adaptor’s?
A: No this is not possible, the Magnetic Circular Lens Caps will only work on standard magnetic adaptors, magnetic step-up rings, and magnetic lens hood adaptors. Universal Lens caps will work with both systems.

Q: Can the Revolution filters be used with the Magnetic Circular Lens Hoods?
A: Yes they can, the revolution filters will attach to this adaptor.

Q: Can I mix and match the Magnetic Circular filters and Square Filters and Holder?
A: No, the systems are not interchangeable

Q: Can I leave my Magnetic filters attached to my lens at all times?
A: The Magnetic filters are not designed to be kept on your lens at all times. By making these filters so very easy to use and allowing you to swap them quickly when taking photos, the attached filters use a strong magnetic force and is not as secure as screwing a filter to your lens. We do not recommend that you walk around with these attached to your camera lens.

Q: What is the difference between the Skyeye and Wolverine filters?
A: The Skyeye filters have a filter thread on the outside frame, making them compatible with standard screw in filters. The Skyeye also gives you some of the same benefits as the Wolverine filters when it comes to colour balance and clarity.

The difference lies in the additional coating on the Wolverine Magnetic Circular filters and no filter thread on the outside frame, making them slimmer and lighter. The Wolverine filters have an additional nano coating which makes the filters scratch resistant, waterproof, anti reflective, easy to clean and toughened glass.

Q: Can I use my magnetic lens caps on my magnetic circular filters.
A: No, the magnetic lens caps are for use on the magnetic adapters only and to protect the lens element. We advise storing your filters in the supplied filter case.

Q: What size should I buy?
A: Always buy a size bigger than you need if you are worried about vignetting on wide and ultra-wide lenses, this allows for stacking of the filters and reduces the chance of vignette. There are also some lens anomalies out there, like the Sony 24-105mm GM lens, this one also needs a larger 82mm set.

Q: The Sony 16-35mm GM f2.8 & NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S Lens, what size do I need?
A: Our 95mm Circular filters are designed to work the best with these lenses.

Q: The Sony 24-105mm f/4 lens, what size do I need?
A: Sony 24-105mm f/4 (77mm filter thread) will vignetting with the Magnetic Circular filters, regardless of filter size. The Magnetic Adapters will cause vignetting at the widest focal length. This is because the adapters are slightly thicker to compensate for the large filters.
The K9 100mm holder and filters cause no vignetting.

Q: Can I use my lens hood still?
A: Yes but only if the filters you buy are the same diameter as the lens filter thread, if you are buying a bigger size to stop vignetting then you won’t be able to.

Q: How do I use the filters on different size lenses?
A: We have our very clever magnetic step-up rings that attach direct to your lens then allow the magnetic circular filters to attach on to that.

Q: Can I swap the type of filters or adaptors in the Magnetic Circular filter kits?
A: No sorry, our kits are all pre-sealed and only come as advertised. We do have most the components available as seperates if you want to add more.

Square System

Q: Can I mix and match the Magnetic Circular filters and Square Filters and Holder?
A: No, the systems are not interchangeable

Q: Is there any limitations to the Double Graduated Filters?
A: Yes, when shooting Full frame – ultra wide angle in portrait orientation with 2/3rd sky you will begin to see the lower gradient, or when shooting wide angle with Medium Format systems in a similar set up.

Q: The k9 holder what’s the widest lens it will work on?
A: It will work on any lens up to 82mm filter thread size. There is no vignetting on the NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S Lens or the Sony 16-35mm F2.8 GM lens.

Q: How do I use the K9 holder on all my lenses, for example a 58mm filter thread?
A: The geared rings are the important part of our holder, and out of the box you get a 77mm & 82mm one. To use any other filter thread size, you simply need to use a step-up ring to one of those geared rings from your lens filter size, so for example a 58-77mm or 58-82mm Standard step up ring

Q: Can I swap the type of filters or adaptors in the Square filter kits?
A: No sorry, our kits are all pre-sealed and only come as advertised. We do have most the components available as seperates if you want to add more or order different strengths.

Q: Why are your 100mm ND filters 150 x 100mm rather than square?
A: We believe that this make using them so much easier, no need to struggle to remove them from the holder anymore.

Q: Do your ND filters have foam gaskets attached?
A: No, they do not, this is because our K9 holder has the foam gasket built in to stop light leaks, however for people using them on non Kase holders we do supply gaskets in the box that you can apply.

Q: Can I use your 2mm 100mm filters in another 100mm holder?
A: Yes, is the simple answer, as long as your holder takes standard 2mm filters.

Q: Can I use other 100mm filters in your K9 holder?
A: Yes, you can, if you have a filter with a built-in gasket then you simply use it in reverse.

Q: Which Kase 100mm system is heavier – K9 or Armour?
A: When comparing the systems together, the Armour is fractionally lighter with less than 10g difference between the two as demonstrated below. If you use a lot of 150/100mm filters, overall the K9 system will work out marginally lighter as you would not need to accommodate for the Armour Magnetic Frames.

K9 holder, CPL, 3x adapters, 1 step ring, 1 cap, with 4 filters (2x ND / 2x Grads) = 492g

Armour holder, CPL, 3x adapters, 1 step ring, 1 cap, 2x 150mm frames, with 4 filters (2x Circular NDs / 2x Grads) = 483g

K9 Holder: 46g
K9 90mm CPL: 30g
K9 Cap: 12g
K9 Geared Adapters: 29g
step ring: 9g

Wolverine 150mm glass: 77g
